On the road again...

Listen up KIM (aka my favorite diet Nazi!!!)
I ate out at least 10 times in a 4 day period with my girlfriends and my diet came to a screeching halt and then backed up..BUT I got back on track and met my goal this week..which was to weigh in at the same weight I was before the big overindulgent trip and WOO HOO...I succeeded!

Before the beach...I weighed 262...
and one week after, I weighed 261...
so I am officially

On The Road Again
poor Pete hit the dreaded diet plateau and stayed the same weight but we are buying a Wii fit so that should shake things up a bit....and as they say at Jenny Craig...
It's about PROGRESS not PERFECTION
Amen to that!
On the road again, I'm so glad to be on the road again...

My Final Paper for this semester...woohoo!!!!

I realized about 11 pm the night before the girlfriend trip that my big huge final "experintial" paper was due by Saturday night...and we'd be gone until minutes before I started work Saturday night...hmmm...so I did what I always do and stayed up all night (literally) and researched by virtually visiting 4 agencies and then writing the entire paper...finished at 6:00 am and emailed it to my teacher with a note about my trip, showered and left my house at 7:00 to pick up Lauralan..and figured, "Oh well, all I need is a C to get reimbursed for the course and if I get 50 on this paper, I'll get a C and the trip is worth the lower grade" .... so today, this is what was in my inbox at school....hahahahaha! WOO HOO!! YESSSSSS!!! (yes Peter, I am bragging again but I am also shocked and thrilled!!!). So the trip did not affect my grade...

GRADE: 100.0000
Elizabeth
Attached is your paper with feedback. Absolutely one of the best submissions for this assignment!!
You have made significant contributions to this class. Good luck with future academic studies and your future career goals.
Hope your shopping trip went well -- sounds like great fun and therapy :)
Shari Robinson

Peter the babysitter...hmmmm

I can't find my cord to upload my girlfriend trip pics so I hope Jackie puts hers up soon!! While we were gone having a FABULOUS time, Peter was sweet enough to come help out with Sarah Beth and Connor...SB called me every 5 minutes and left messages such as this (and I quote)

Mama, you need to call and yell as hard as you can at Peter because I didn't want to go to MacDonald's and Daddy gave him money and Peter told me to get over myself...

Mama, when you get home you need to spank Peter really really hard because he is climning that windmill tower and he is going to break his knee again and he is teaching bad stuff like that to Connor and he needs a very bad spanking...

Mama I am freaking out because I am the mother when you are gone and Peter will NOT listen to me and he is bossing me around and he let the dogs in the HOUSE and I am just freaking out and I need you to put a stop to Peter's bad behavior because he is out of control and it is freaking me out and I am not feeling good...

and my very favorite message

(the italics indicate a very quiet, hoarse pitiful voice, the bold is top of the lungs screaming)

Mama I am very sick and my nose is running and Peter said I couldn't call and bother you but I am very very sick and my head hurts and my nose is sniffy andLEAVE ME ALONE PETER YOU ARE NOT MY BOSS AND YOU CAN'T TELL ME I CAN'T CALL MY MAMA SO HUSHI need some medicine and I am just so sick I need you to call Dr Kyle and I am sorry to bother you but I am so sick I can't talk good...

and the beat goes on...

No pictures, no song this week...I missed my Jenny craig appt because I've been shopping like crazy for 4 days with 4 of my best good girlfriends in gorgeous Myrtle Beach!! WOW did we have fun!!!! And we ate and ate and ate...so I am not going NEAR a scale until Thursday when I check in at Jenny Craig...and my goal is to weigh the same as my last check in before the big girlfriend trip (and that might take a miracle!).

BUT AS FOR PETE.....
HE is THE MAN!!!!! He lost again...
and he lost
drum roll......drum roll....drum roll......
a great big huge....
3.2 pounds
We are so proud of him!!!! Pray for me...I feel so fat tonight...

KALIB

My grandbaby will be 3 next month (which means it's time for a sister or brother, don't you think??). Peter and Ellen got to visit him last month...and I KNOW these pictures are tiny...I grabbed them off Peter's facebook and can't figure out how to make them bigger!!!

No, Doctor, I have no idea why my knee won't heal...

Peter's mission was cut short when he destroyed his knee on the Basketball court...I thought the orthopaedic surgeon was nutso when he told me...and I quote..."This is a very serious knee injury and it will be at least a year until he is recovered and I am not sure his knee will ever fully recover." hmmm...it's been 3 years now and Peter will have his 4th surgery on March 13th in another attempt to give him an ACL after bone implants last October..forget the miniscus..gone forever....recently, his doctor had a "serious" conversation with him and explained that if he wanted to save his knee, he needed to find some new sports...what do you think? Is he a compliant patient??? I think not..

Boys will be boys!!! but this boy is supposedly a genius...gotta love my knucklehead...

Anyone want a puppy????

I am not...repeat, not...a pet person...I love animals but hate the whole idea of pets...and smelly wet dogs...ewwww. However; I have a soft heart for babies and children and have spent too much time trying to save lives to be able to take even a baby dog's life and if they go to the pound...well we all saw Hotel for Dogs...

Someone dropped off these two puppies on our doorstep...yeah, I guess we are the "country"...the twins are wild about Cooper and Friday (they got those names from who knows where) but they cannot live with me. They have a week and then the pound..so..anyone want a cute friendly loveable puppy???????

A Family Photo...and more

The Sheridan Family (sometime in late 2000) at Jean's old house
The twins had to take a family picture to Primary today and talk about our family...Sarah Beth was determined to choose this one because it is her favorite...even though it is 8 years old and so funny...look how little Andrew was at 12 years old...and Peter was just aggravated at having to take a family picture...gotta love 14 year old boys!!! LaNelle was 15 but she looks older than Heather!! And Patti looks so young...she was only 10...I thought y'all might find this funny, too...sad how time flies...

Remember Andrew at his first youth conference???
He always loved to be surrounded by girls...and now he's almost 6 ft...all grown up and just interested in one girl...she sure is pretty!

The Biggest Loser...week 5...Walking On Sunshine

Pete is still walking 2-3 miles a day and he looks so much more healthy..he has color in his face and well, he can WALK 2-3 miles in a day and that is really remarkable. I am beginning to remember that he was a long distance runner..and actually believe that the day will come when he runs again! Go Pete! And all that walking and Jenny Craig Food paid off again...

Pete lost another 3 pounds!!!!
I had a good week too. SB has been struggling with her lungs so we haven't been back to the dam and I haven't felt very well either so I have not got myself in motion yet...BUT I did stick to the eating plan and that was enough to give me the edge and this week, I get to be the biggest loser in the Sheridan House...ok so not by much but I did lose...
3 1/2 pounds!!!!!
****************************************************
Hey , alright now and don't it feel good!! hey yeh ,oh yeah and don't it feel good!!

Ellen and Peter

So most everyone knows that Peter has been in a really good mood for months now...and part of that could be the Tigers great basketball season...or all the honor societies he's been inducted to...or maybe it's Ellen. In fact, I'd bet on it!!
Ellen is his girlfriend...and we've known her since our Charlotte days...she was his "girl" in 3rd grade..in fact, he overcame his shyness to give her a necklace for Christmas when he was 8 years old...
And every single member of our family that has met her just adores her. She is quality. She is cute, personable, smart, fun, beautiful, she loves kids, loves family, and she is NICE!!!
Most important of all, since she's been around, I've seen Peter smile...really truly smile (eyes and all) and I haven't seen that smile since...well, third grade!

Don't they make a really cute couple???? We love Peter and Ellen!

Family Home Evenings...so much fun!!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Family Home Evenings...(on Monday nights we stop everything and spend time as a family and either have a planned lesson/activity/game/snack or a game night or dinner out and an activity...I really miss FHE with ALL MY KIDS!!!! but it can be fun with a smaller family too)

Last week Connor taught a beautiful lesson on keeping our bodies like a temple...clean and pure...he counseled us to only watch good movies, read good books, eat healthy and for girls to have one earring and no one to get tattoos! It was a wonderful lesson.

This week, we had planned a game night...but first Sarah Beth taught us about the life of a knight and how they started at age 7 learning to be a knight in shining armour...and that led to a great discussion about Daddy being my knight in shining armour and how Kyle, Steven, Peter, Andrew, and Connor are also and how that training starts even before age 7!!!!Then, we played one of my favorites...SCRABBLE!!! We played a quicker version called Scrabble -To-Go where there is always only one word on the board at a time and you roll 7 letter-dice and have only 60 seconds to form a word...pressure!!!!
I cautioned Pete NOT to help Sarah Beth and Connor because it is a good learning activity...both language arts and math! I didn't expect Connor to BEAT ME!!!!!!! but he did...and my favorite word he made in less than 60 seconds was...ignore
so he won all by himself, I lost to an 8 year old...and I'm ok with that
sort of

Ain't No Mountain High Enough

Pete is The MAN!!!!! He is also the biggest loser in the Sheridan Household this week....

are you ready for this...

3 weeks into Jenny Craig....

tadatadatadatada....

he lost 4 pounds...which is

64 ounces...which is

one thousand nine hundred grams...

sticking to the plan pays off!!!!

ME?????? Well, I am happy that I lost one teeny tiny pound (hey now ...every loss is a win)...because we measured today and in 4 weeks on Jenny Craig, I have lost a total of

10.5 inches......WOW!!!!

Here are the new (still grotesque but making progress) measurements:

Bust 52.5 (-3.5 inches!!)

Waist 47 (- 4 inches!!)

Abdoman 54 ( - 3 inches!!)

Hips 54 (no change but that's ok!)

we still have a LONG LONG journey ahead but we are GOING to make it all the way because...

Ain't no mountain high enough, ain't no valley low enough, ain't no river wide enough to keep us from getting to you, babe!!!!!

Owen Visits!!!

We were so happy when we asked if Owen could come visit and Christi said YES! The twins watched the clock until it was time for him to come...

Sarah Beth entertained him with a puppet show for a minute and then he lost interest...
But he would have played with Connor all day... Connor showed Owen how to turn on the lights and sound on his Hess truck..
He was a quick learner!!!
Owen was fascinated by the Wii
but he wasn't so sure about the rocking of the video chair... so he got up to investigate something else...(he stands really well and WANTED to take a step but I wasn't sure if he'd taken his first step yet and didn't dare let him since his Mama wasn't around to witness it...)
Ahhh..it was the bank that he was after....was it the bright clemson orange he liked or the coins inside????? probably just because it looked like a ball!!
We had so much fun...he is a sweet and adorable child! Well done Christi and Tim!!!!!
and thanks for sharing him...come back anytime!

My Family is Telepathic!!!!

I always laugh when one of my children call me because without fail, within minutes, one or sometimes all of my other children will call. The other day I posted a "one word only" post that Patti and her friends had done and then my sister did it and today, Heather emailed me one that was very similar...she refuses to have a blog or facebook so I am going to copy her email here...it just amazes me that we are all almost always on the same thought pattern!!!! Fuzzy wuzzy pics at the end of week 4

Once, many years ago that measured 24"...now it's almost 2 1/2 times that..ugh..I'll never measure 24" again but maybe 30" would be nice (or a miracle!) Here is our first update...4 weeks into the biggest loser challenge..together we have lost over 30 pounds in less than a month!!! The first picture was in mid December...
and this blurry shot from tonight...

Ok don't expect miracles..we have only lost 5% of our starting weight...but even if it isn't evident in pictures, it is in our clothes so we are happy!! These were taken by SB with my phone and sent to facebook and then to my computer and then here and they are really fuzzy but you get the point...

Lucky You

I got this from Mikelene's blog and was so excited to be # 3 that it took me a minute to realize I had committed to doing it also...so check it out...LUCKY YOU!!!!!!

Lucky you!The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you. This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
2. What I create will be just for you.
3. It'll be done this year. {might be a little while}
4. You have no clue what it's going to be. It may be a story. It may be poetry or maybe even some creation I haven't even invented yet (but Heaven knows it will most likely be super shiny or look like it got attacked by a bedazzler). I may draw or paint something. I may bake you something and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure!
5. I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

The catch? Oh, the catch is that you must repost this on your blog and offer the same to the first 5 people who do the same on your blog. The first 5 people to do so and leave a comment telling me they did win a FAB-U-LOUS homemade gift by me!

*Oh, and be sure to post a picture of what you win when you get it!*
