Go Tigers!!!!

I don't know how old I was the first time I went to a Clemson home game...about 6 I think. Granddaddy had 6 tickets on the 50 yard line in the North Stands and he parked in what is now the ramp for the upper deck! Back then, tickets for the West End Zone bleachers were $3 and for 50 cent you could sit on the hill. (there was no upper deck and the hill stretched entirely across from North to South stands!!!!) We kids usually had end zone seats unless some of the adults we tailgated with had extra tickets. We actually preferred the end zone because then we were free to play under the big shade trees... they are now gone :( as is much of the hill! Those were the best of times!! My grandparents, aunt and uncle, parents, siblings, cousins, and so many Summerton friends...all in orange...all parked side by side and we had the best food! I wish I had some of Miss Doris' pimento cheese, Miss Henny's shrimp dip and pelzer fried chicken!!! By the time LaNelle and Peter were born, our parking pass was down the hill a bit (about the equivilent of one block and we COMPLAINED!!!!) Still, we went to every game and LaNelle wore a cheerleading outfit and Peter a football uniform...and they were babies!! We mostly sat on the 50 yard line except big games when we got relegated to the new upper deck.
Those days, tickets and parking priveledges are long gone but we still love Clemson football!! my children go often but I had not been in almost 15 years...until SATURDAY!!!!!
some things haven't changed...he tigers still rub Howard's rock and run down the hill. Everyone still wears orange...the fans are still insane about the tigers and we still fire a cannon and watch the tiger do push-ups everytime we score! And although we had to park a 15 minute walk away in PUBLIC PARKING (ughhhh!!!!!!), we still tailgated before and after and even though I was not feeling well at all, it was a glorious day 9although miserably hot) and I was so happy to be there...but I was very emotional and missed my Granddaddy all day.

It felt great in our shady parking area.
And we still had great food.

and played a fun new game..some kind of golf balls on a string that you throw and try to get on the bars..each bar scores a different amount.
Peter, Andrew and the twins loved it!
Connor had undereye paint and DT and Uncle Floyd caught sight of him after the game during a CJ Spillar interview because Clemson still lets kids storm the field for autographs and to play after the game. Andrew was holding Connor up directly behind CJ while he was being interviewd on TV. It was a fun birthday for the twins. The best part for me was seeing my boy (Peter). It seems like only last year he was Connor's age. I miss him more than words can describe.

Happy Birthday Connor and Sarah Beth!!!!!

Can you believe the twins are 8 years old?????? They are eagerly counting the days till October 11th when they get baptized but first, we celebrated their big day with a party at Build-a-Bear on Friday night (since we went to Clemson on their actual Birthday!).

Each guest chose and stuffed a bear, dressed it in their choice of clothes and took it home in a "bear condo". They also signed a special "autograph bear" for each of the twins. The party hostess kept the children entertained with games while the bears were stuffed, "bathed", and dressed!

The hostess had the children hold hands in a circle and then she tangled them up...they worked and worked to twist, bend and weave to get back to their circle but never did get untangled...finally, they gave up!
Sweet Andrew good naturedly joined in for Duck Duck Goose! We love love love having him home!! He is really making some fun memories for the twins and someday, a LUCKY LUCKY girl will have a super husband and their children will have a fabulous father!!
Rylan was pretending to be an elephant during animal charades.
I don't remember what Jackson and Connor portrayed but I know Jackson refused to be a tiger!!! Justin really got into the game!

Andrew fell in love with Maizeigh and he told me after the party, "You know, Mary Beth is a really really good Mom!"
Ok, first the girl flirts and then the guy makes his move! (we had so much fun watching these two...but watch out Jackson, Lilly is an older woman!

Of course Sarah Beth chose the Hannah Montanna Bear! So did Silvana. Pazlan got a really cool Pirate bear!
Check out Jackson's face...he and Connor loved the cupcakes!
Sarah Beth and Connor made the cupcakes...measuring, following the recipe and figuring out the time they would be ready reinforced concepts we learned in science and math last week!!
Lilly is such a happy child!

The twins invited Pazlan and Rylan , Jackson , Justin and Jonathon (friends from 1st grade), Carter, Lilly (my friend Patti's granddaughter), Silvana and Tia (friends from Irmo Ward), and Luke. Everyone came except Luke and it was a ton of fun. I really appreciated Lauralan staying to help...and Mary Beth, Patti and Kayla as well!

Back to School Field Trip...

SC Virtual Charter School hosted a Back-to-School Field trip at Frankie's Fun Park. It was a chance for the kids to meet each other and get to know their teachers. The twins' homeroom and online Science teacher is Mrs. Mary Hathaway. We didn't get pictures of them but they also met Ms Laura (their online Language Arts teacher) and Mrs. West (their online Math teacher). I forget the name of their online History teacher...

Each child received a Frankie's Fun Card loaded with $15 so they could experience "motion" (our focus in Science next month!!) Sarah Beth and Connor loved the "up and down" of drop zone...

Sarah Beth enjoyed the "spinning" of water bumper boats! It was blazing hot so the waterspray felt great and dried almost instantly!!!

We took a break for hot dogs and Icees...Andrew has made school so much fun...we will miss him when he returns to BYU-I!!!!
Gotta love school lunches!
Connor's favorite motion was the "curves" of the race cars!! You know they had to be the fastest team on the track!

At home, Pete is the science teacher and every lesson from K12 has at least one experiment. They all love the hands on classes...
Most of our schoolwork is done at the kitchen table.
History classes always include a story online...nothing like going to school in your jammies!!
Andrew is the Spanish teacher...and he reminded us to hang a flag and start each day with the pledge and a prayer!!!! We love SCVCS!!!!

Farewell to Summer Days...

We all hate to see summer end...so before we said goodbye to lazy fun and sun filled days, we took one last trip to Myrtle Beach for Labor Day...

Andrew and Connor loved the huge hammocks at Compass Cove...I didn't notice Connor was sticking out his tongue until I printed these...bad bad boys!!!

OK...if you look up at the top of this pic you will see a tiny speck of color above the waves...that is the kite Connor flew by himself and very well!!!! He and Pete had a great time while we watched from our high high balcony!
and of course we had to cool off in the pools and lazy rivers!!!!!!
We all enjoyed the lazy river and we can thank Kim for the picture of me...a wonder any water was left in the pool!!!!

Uncle Floyd is just a great big kid...and he is beloved by his neices and nephews!!!

My gorgeous sister Kim is a testament that 5 pregnancies and fat genes do not HAVE to equal being obese!
Pete getting some much needed rest!!
I have spent so much time with my Dad this summer and have absolutely loved every minute!! If he had his shades off, you would see how very much we look alike!!
See that dimple? I only have one and when I was little, my brother used to say that right before you are born, if you have 2 dimples, it's because Heavenly Father pinched both cheeks and said "you're such a cutie pie!" but if you only have one, it's because he took one last look at you and flicked your cheek saying, "oh get outta here!" BROTHERS!!!!

Connor and Sarah Beth loved the water park at the hotel...we kept thinking about how much more fun this park would have been with Kalib along as well!!! Next year Heather Kyle and Kalib are joining us at the beach!!!!! We are already counting the days till Memorial Day Week 2009!!!!!!!
